Some scraps re Marks Stadium.

Still looking for some photographs of Marks stadium.

At the time I first remembered it, it already had an auto racing paved surface around the perimeter of the soccer pitch.

Although used primarily for soccer, Mark’s also operated a semi-professional baseball team and the stadium’s design was decidedly baseball-friendly. This included an L-shaped stand which was placed behind one of the corner-flags.[1] The stadium also incorporated a small dirt track for auto racing up until the eary 1950s which somewhat reduced the size of the soccer pitch.

ed. On the West side of the stadium there was a covered grandstand.   in this photo below , although it features one of the race cars, you get a glimpse of the North corner of the grandstand.which backed up to Shove Street.   It was just a short jog from the St Michaels club up the street where the Pontas players would dress for the game, down to the stadium.  There was a grandstand behind the North Goal Post which was established for the baseball layout.  (3rd base side)  Can't remember if it was covered or not.

Would appreciate any other photos.

The view from the grandstand looked across the side line East out to the  Bourne  mill which is often pictured in the background with its iconic chimney and clock tower.
